Program Providers - Your Responsibilities
As the provider of study abroad programs on behalf of American colleges and universities, you understand the complexities of providing an experience that appropriately challenges students academically and personally. This can be challenging as you strive to meet the expectations of home schools while also acknowledging and respecting the cultural context in which you both live and encourage students to assimilate. You take overall responsibility for students’ learning and growth while they are abroad by ensuring that students have comfortable accommodation, access to inspiring and stimulating student life and cultural opportunities, and support in their cultural adjustment. Critically, you look after their emotional/psychological health.
Equilibrio - Our Responsibilities
From the moment students land in their new country, the Equilibrio telephone HelpLine offers confidential expert emotional, psychological and practical 24 hour seven day a week support to college students wherever they are and whatever the need. We also support you, the program providers, in managing difficult situations and critical incidents when they occur.
Benefits to Program Providers
Through Equilibrio’s preventative and responsive services, we free up time for local staff to focus their attention on program administration, academics, student life, and the many other aspects involved in the Study Abroad experience for students. In our partnership, we help students meet the challenges that arise when in a different cultural environment. We can also connect students to a professional English-speaking counselor, psychotherapist or psychiatrist if they need support beyond the HelpLine. Finally, in the event that a crisis occurs, we activate our team and put in motion our tested protocol to support students, staff and the integrity of your program.
